ELIGIBILITY

Who is eligible?

To use the Opportunities Fund, applicants must:

• have a permanent disability as a barrier to employment
• be unemployed or underemployed
• be eligible to work in Canada
• not have received Employment Insurance benefits within the last three (3) years
• reside in Burnaby, New Westminster, Vancouver, North Vancouver, Richmond, South Delta, Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound (Squamish, Whistler), Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, District of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Port Moody. If you live outside these areas, please contact your nearest Service Canada office.

Other requirements

Prior to applying to the Opportunities Fund, individuals will meet the following criteria:

• be registered with a Service Canada Case Manager
• have completed a job search using existing skills
• have considered training programs that are short-term in nature
• reside in one of the following postal code regions:

  V2W, V2X, V2Z
  V3B, V3C, V3E, V3H, V3J, V3K, V3L, V3M, V3N, V3P, V3Y, V3Z
  V4G, V4K, V4L, V4M
