Program Information

What is the Opportunities Fund Program?

A financial assistance program designed to assist persons with disabilities access training that leads to employment.

Applicants to the Opps Fund must have no other financial means of support to access further training.

Residents of: Pemberton/Whistler, the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound Corridor, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Mission, New Westminster, Delta, Surrey, Langley, White Rock, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Hope, and Boston Bar can apply to the Opps Fund.

Residents of Vancouver Island are also eligible to apply.


Financial assistance

Financial assistance is negotiable and varies based on the individual needs of each applicant. It may consist of one or more of the following:

  • tuition and books
  • living expenses
  • disability supports
  • a wage subsidy paid to an employer as an incentive to train
  • self-employment training
  • dependent care and / or child care

How can the Opportunities Fund help me?

For persons with a disability:

  • provides accommodations you may need to access the workplace and perform your duties

For employers:

  • substantially lowers hiring and training costs
  • eliminates accessibility and accommodation expenses
  • wage subsidy terms are flexible and negotiable
